Tadalafil 20 mg goes by the brand name Cialis and is a treatment for erectile dysfunction.  Tadalafil 20 mg belongs to the class of PDE5 inhibitor drugs and its main competitions are Viagra and Levitra.  Tadalafil is aptly called the ‘weekend pill’ due to its 36 hours of effective duration.  Levitra and Viagra can only offer up to 6 hours of effective duration.

The main action of tadalafil 20 mg is to inhibit the degenerative action brought by PDE5 onto the cGMP of the smooth muscles lining the blood vessels which supply blood towards the corpus cavernosum.  Basically, what tadalafil does is that it instructs the smooth muscles to relax and allow blood to flow smoothly onto the two cavities inside the penis and fill it blood so as to attain an erection.  Additionally, PDE5 can also be found in the smooth muscles of the arteries within the lungs.  This means that the drug can also be potentially a treatment for pulmonary hypertension.  Then again, tadalafil 20 mg is mostly used for the treatment of erectile dysfunction.
